June 30, 2007

Most of the time, I am pretty proud of my taste in music, and enjoy talking with other people about what's in our cars cd players or Ipods. I love knowing that I've turned someone on to a new favorite artist or at least getting them to listen to someone they swore they'd never listen to let alone like.

My current songs of fascination do not fall in this category. I feel like a 14 year old kid wasting the summer away, begging mom and dad for money to go to the mall. (well i still do that stuff I guess, but now it's Adam I beg for money).

Maroon 5 just always seems a little dirty, but kind of in a way that you don't really notice at first, but once you give the lyrics a good listen-well sometimes I blush. This song makes me want to get up and dance. He could give me a pat down at the airport...

I don't have a real explanation for this next song other then it's fun to turn up loud and drive fast, Erm I mean the speed limit.

Shop Boyz supposedly have a new style called Hood Rock and if the rest of their songs sound like this, they may go in heavy rotation. The video leaves something to be desired but I dig the song.

Excuse me, my alpha mom* is showing

I just got done filling 6 ice cube trays with pureed carrots, squash, broccoli, apples, strawberries and yogurt.

in the morning, I'll have about a months worth of food for wee Liili-Bug, now let's just see if she likes it!

I need to grow up

I read about McKenna McCorkle a few weeks ago. I called the number listed in the article and actually spoke to her a mom a bit. I shared some of her pain, I knew all to well what it was to sleep in the cramped and uncomfortable waiting room of the Kosiars NICU. I remembered the feeling of numbness when there's the first indication that there's a problem with your baby. I can still feel the coldness that ran through my body when we truly wondered if my children would survive. But I also got to feel the joy of getting an all clear from the doctor. The pride when we walked through the waiting room the bank of elevators waving goodbye to all the friends we'd made over the last few awful weeks.

McKenna's Mom, Ashely will never know that feeling of joy and pride I felt. She lost her darling baby girl on Thursday from respiratory complications. Please if you can, say an extra prayer or two for McKenna's family as they now have to go on in this world without her.

To lighten the mood

Well to lighten our mood a little bit I thought I'd bring out the ole Simpsons Avatar. Awesome. Now go on, make your own.

Because I'm in a funky mood

Surprise Visit

Adam comes home on Saturday but I drove the kiddos up tonight to meet him for Dinner. Since Camp Atterbury is only about an hour and a half away it was a pretty easy drive. Plus I got there early enough to kill some time at the Eddie Bauer Outlet store. (whee)

Conner was thrilled and it was just so nice to see Adam, even though I know he'll be home in two days.

paint, blisters, mosquito bites OH MY!

Whew. Now that I've discovered the magic and love that is spray paint, I have painted damn near everything in the house that I can take outside.
Chairs: Check
Table :Check
Planter for Table: Check
Bookshelf for kiddos: Check
Random ill-fated mosquito: Check

The whole bookshelve thing turned out pretty nice, in addition to the regular black paint, I also got some chalkboard paint and covered the sides and back so Conner could use it as a massive canvas. Needless to say, I'm pretty damn impressed with myself.

I have, however, been slacking on the whole picture thing. I just have not had time with Adam being gone. The kids, the house, the flooring company. If any of you reading this are single parents, well, my hats off to you. I honestly don't know how you guys do it!

One week down...

Alrighty kids, one week down and another to go until Adam returns. Of course it sucks to not have him here, but it's not been too bad. Like I'd said before I usually get a lot more done with him out of town and I have so far. The curtains and drapes are up in the kids room, thanks to my mom and dad, and wow. It's like a totally different room. It actually looks finished. Who'da thunk?

Ohh Ohhh. I also leave for Germany in just under 3 weeks. I can't freaking wait. I'm gonna miss bean and bug something fierce though. Let's all keep our fingers crossed that my passport arrives soon.

btw, anyone else find Mike Rowe to be a complete and total hottie?

Happy Fathers Day

I know it's delayed, but happy Fathers Day to all the dads out there.

I have a confession to make. I have been beating myself up since Sunday night when I realized that I didn't get a picture with my dad. :-( That was my goal for the whole day and I failed. Shit.

At any rate. happy fathers day dad. My dad and I are just about complete opposites when it comes to personalities (Physically I got almost all those traits from him, hello no ass). He's soft spoken and is wonderfully diplomatic. I am loud ALL.THE.TIME and I am-well-I can be tactless sometimes. But he provided a wonderful example of how a parent should be and what to look for in a good husband, and for that I am grateful.

Thanks Dad and happy fathers day.

Umm yeah, I'll be getting these pronto!

Am I missing something?

Right now the Bath and Body Works Semi-annual sale is going on and....I could care less. I like their aroma-therapy stuff but that's about it. I've never been a fan of that kind of stuff really. Imean don't get me wrong I'm a big fan of personal hygiene but, I just am not into the fruity stuff.

Perhaps it's something lacking in my DNA? :-)

Bats Game

The boy is like a sponge. He can remember the most random things at the most random time. One of said things being "Buddy Bat", his happiness about that is one of the biggest reasons I am able to drag A out to Slugger Field for a game every now and then.

Last Friday was one of those days. The weather was lovely and we spent way to much money on ball-park junk food, but it was good times.

Is his mouth big enough?

day 110/Sugar, the way God intended..

Llike a pro

I'm OK!

I know, I know, I've been slacking. I really don't have an excuse other then I've been busy. The business is super busy right now in addition to the babies and all of the billions of boards and committees I feel like I HAVE to join.

Plus, sometimes it ebbs and flows. A's out for two weeks with military so tonight Conner and I made a countdown to when he'll be back. It's pretty hard for him to understand the days and what exactly is going on, so I'm hoping this will help.

I'm always super motivated to get shizz done around the house when Adam is gone, like I want to surprise him when he gets back. I've already got my list made.

*Hang up new drapes in the kiddos room, and put up their picture ledges

* Finish the Zen garden in the back, including laying barrier, laying rocks, ordering the fountain and bench.

*Refinish the bitchen' chairs I got at the high school theater dept yard sale today for the front porch.

* Move around the living room furtniture.

Because hey, it's not like I have enough to do.

Also, day 111

Rubber Ducky...

day 109/ *British Rutty, You're the One*

dinner and tears

Tonight, during dinner, Conner was telling us about his day and then he paused and looked at me and in the most sincere voice ever says, "Thanks mom for making this good dinner". And then I cried. And Adam made fun of me.

For these are the days of our lives...

ORANGE you glad to see me?

*day 108, and my orange day for rainbow week on Flickr*
day 108/ My 2nd favorite Lilly.

This is one of the Stargazer Lily's from my back yard. As stores start to clearance them out now that "planting season" is winding down, I hope to get quite a few and add them in the back. They will be, along with our butterfly bush, the main floral feature in our zen garden.

Perhaps it's subconscious but there is something about the curve of the petals in these flowers. I could stare at the blooms for hours at a time and still be awed by their beauty.

Do you ever have one of those days/weeks where you think that if you could just cry real hard or vomit you'd feel so much better?
