Lilli had her 2 month check up this week, and she's already up to 9 lbs and 21 inches long! She's in the 5th percentile for height and weight and the 10th for her head size. HAH!

She got more immunizations and the new wonderful WONDERFUL immunization against the awful rotavirus.

I was able to get her first small smile out of her yesterday by playing peek-a-boo. She's even prettier when she smiles!

Party Gifts

Time for another Holiday Hint and Tip.

Custom Coasters.

These are fun and easy to make! Great for Christmas gifts, or gifts for the host or hostess of your next holiday party!

2 months

Happy 2 month birthday little Lilli-Bug! You have grown so much over the last month. Now you are awake for longer periods of time and love to look around. We just put the Christmas Tree up, and the lights are fantastic! We're going to have to start feeding you steak as you're already eating 6 oz a feeding. I'm getting scared I won't be able to keep up!

You have filled out all over and now have a cute little double chin, chubby cherub cheeks, rolly-polly squishy legs and fingers and toes I love to eat.

You recognize mine and daddies voices, and Conner adores you. He hates to hear you cry and does what he can to comfort you.

We had a rocky start but you are growing by leaps and bounds and I love you so much!

November 23, 2006

Today as we assembled with family and friends, I started to think about all that I had to be grateful for.

I am grateful that Adam is my husband, and he is home and safe this holiday season. He is such a wonderful husband and a much more incredible father then I could have ever imagined. His patience with me and Lilli at 1 in the morning when she seems to be inconsolable, and when Conner wants nothing else but for him to hold him.

I am grateful for my little Conner Bean. He is just more perfect then we could have hoped for. He is so well behaved and so cute, sometimes I can't believe that we "made him", grateful that he is happy and healthy and loves Lilli. I can't wait for Christmas, and to see how excited he's getting and going to get.

I am grateful for little Lilli-Bug, and even though she arrived a wee bit early, she is growing like a weed, and is a happy baby just like her brother. What a perfect closing addition to our family.

I'm grateful that my family is close and we are all healthy this year. 2006 was rough but we were all together and able to support each other.

STUPID WIRELESS

*I had this post written yesterday I swear! My wireless just won't let me upload pictures*

This weekend we went to the Festival of Trees and Lights so I could take pictures for the Christmas cards of the babies. Yeah, that didn't work out so well. Conner scowled the whole time. Adam jr.

Anyway, here is a crappy one of the whole family.

It's a good thing our kids are cute.

Holiday Tip

I need all the help I can get when it comes to artsy-craftsy and decorating stuff. I figure I'm not the only one. So I'll be posting all the tips and tricks I'll pick up over the holidays here for you guys.

First one. Tying the perfect wreath bow. Compliments of Martha Stewart.

November 17, 2006

Let the games begin

Tomorrow starts the official holiday shopping season for me this year. Garden Ridge is having a wonderful friends and family secret sale, and I'm off to buy a bunch of unneccesary, tacky, expensive Christmas decor that I'll end up making Adam put up.

I'm going to try and take the babies picture our Christmas card, and pull the rest of the Christmas stuff out of the basement.

I pointed out a house with Christmas lights up down the street to Adam the other day, and as long as I'm not the first decorator it's fair game.

We'll also be getting our Christmas tree Thanksgiving week-end. Last year we dicked around and waited until the weekend before Christmas, and I hardly got to enjoy the tree being up and decorated and Christmas-y.

I LOVE IT!

outrage

this is unbelievable

Here is more on the story.

Festival of Tree and Lights

The Festival of Trees and Lights is a fund raiser for the NICU at Kosairs Hospital, where both Lilli and Conner were after they were born.

Not only will we be supporting an amazing cause but it will be the perfect opportunity for Christmas card pictures. There's a raffle for a BMW, $40,000.00, you can claim a wreath to design and sell.

There is also a place for you to "shop for the NICU" where you can purchase diapers, boppys or just make a donation.

I plan on going and no doubt coming home with a ridiculous amount of stuff.

November 15, 2006

But is there any way that you, you could just sock me out so there's no
way that I'll know I'm at work? Right here? (points to his head) Can I
just come home and think I've been fishing all day or something?

SERIOUSLY!!!!!! Have they figured out a way to do that yet? every minute at this job is worse then ever. it's the biggest load of bullshit.

Oh, HELL NO!

Woman kicked off plane for breast-feeding baby.

Ok, even as a fellow nurser, I agree that sometimes women can take the whole look at me I'm nursing in public thing a bit too far. Why would you want to purposly make some people uncomfortable when there is a way for you to be more discreet?

But this? This woman was doing nothing wrong. She was by the window, no part of her actual boob was showing.
Airline, how about no, this is completely out of line. Kicking her off by refusing a blanket? Do you know how hot it gets underneath those?

Assbags

Wal*Mart, Nazi's and Consumerism. OH MY!

In my small town, one of the many topics that comes up repeatedly is focused around Wal*Mart (and other chains) and how they are killing the small-town mentality and local business'.

This just added fuel to the fire.

I don't really care for Wal*Mart, mostly because of the censorship thing with their music. And isn't it wonderful to be idealistic and swear off big-box stores in favor of smaller boutiques?

I was all about this until I had kids. Especially Lilli, did you know that Meijer and Wal*Mart are the only stores within a 20 mile radius of my house that carry preemie diapers? I couldn't find one mom and pop or boutique store that even carried diapers, let alone preemie diapers. Target doesn't even.

Also, when buying clothes for a 2 year old which will most likely be stained or grown out of in a week, I head to a big box store. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to buy all their stuff from Strassburg and Hanna Andersson, but I can't spend $15/shirt that won't last around here.

I do however buy all my books from my local bookstore (which is quite a few) eat at a local restaurant at least 2-3 times a week, buy flowers from my local florist, buy my hometown newspaper, and Adam bought my birthday present at the local jewelers.

For Christmas, my sister and I get angels from the angle trees, in lieu of presents for some family members. Our budget goes a lot further at Target or Wal*Mart, allowing us to give these kids clothes, presents and just a little bit more then if we were limited to just boutique shopping.

Conner-Bean

For Christmas, my MIL had some pictures taken of Conner. I want to cry every time I look at them. My heart just absolutely swells with pride when I see him, and disbelief. I made that. I didn't screw it up, look how great he is!

Possibility?

At work, I sell ad space for a magazine. One of my potential advertisers is a company that works with historic and older homes. They have recently brought up the possibility of doing some contract work with them.

I'm incredibly excited about this opportunity. It's not that I hate working, I was just starting to get into doing the whole stay at home mom thing, which, honestly, I never thought I would ever really "want" that, you know? I loved it though. I loved doing the whole domestic housewifey schtick. The grocery shopping, the meal planning and cooking, keeping the house clean-wait OK I still never really mastered that but, ANYWAY.

Right, so it's not like I'll be not working anytime soon, I mean I like shoes way too much, but it's nice to dream right?

Why I Support Same-Sex Unions/Gay Marriage

(or why my congressman is spineless and it hurt to vote for him)

I don't like him, but I voted for him. Baron Hill is my congressman, and I was appalled at how little he took a stand on. But I think that was the democrats "tactic" this year. Point out the faults of the others, and whatever you do, DON'T say anything about your political standings.

Baron Hill's commercials all reminded me that he was for our "Hoosier Values" and he doesn't support same-sex unions. Of course not, why would a forward-thinking democrat put his neck out there like that? I hate that term "Hoosier Values", I can garaun-damn-tee that Baron and I feel completely different about our values. I'd like to think that my Hoosier Values include open mindedness, forgiveness, acceptance. You know that whole live and let live thing.

I guess it boils down to my wonder of why everyone has their panties in bunch over people getting married in the first place. Umm look brother, unless it's you Bob down the street is trying to marry then why the hell do you care? Plus there is the whole separation of church and state thing. Last conversation I had with a gay friend, he was mostly concerned about getting the same rights legally when it came to making the same (and in some case stronger and more genuine) commitment to his partner. He didn't say anything about wanting God's or your blessing. So butt out.

Why would you want to keep apart two adults who love each other, who have found a friend, companion, lover in someone they want to spend the rest of their life with?

I'd like to think Britany Spears has done more damage to the "protecting marriage" campaign then my "queer" buddies.

Please don't mistake this anti-gay sentiment as a "Christan value" either. It's extremely far from the truth, while many Christians I know don't condone it, they also realize that A) It's not really their place when it comes to the legal aspect of it, B) If you are going to pull it to a God and sinning level, then every sin is the same in God's eyes, so whether it's ogling Brad Pitt on TV or cussing at the jerk who just cut you off, you're on the same sin level as "the gays" you hate so much.

I guess my point is this. FIND SOMETHING MORE IMPORTANT TO OBJECT TOO, LIKE OUR THOUSANDS OF TROOPS DYING OVERSEAS BECAUSE OF BULLSHIT.

Whatevs, I've gotten all worked up. I'm out.

It's The Most Wonderful Time of the Year

Well kids, it's here. Christmas shopping season has once again been thrust opon us. Whether we like it or not. As Wal*Mart so lovingly reminded me as I made a late night mad dash for diapers recently, there are less then 50 shopping days left before Christmas, or in terms that are more terrifying around the Paris house, a mere 3 paychecks until Christmas. Holy.Crap.

I don't totally hate this though. I love shopping for other people. I love doing the research in finding them the perfect gift. Although, I hate waiting and usually end up giving them their present early, forcing me to wait until the last minute to do my shopping.

While I was perusing the internet today at work looking for Christmas gifts (on my lunch break of course), I began to think about what to get Adam. I am totally stumped. All this man does is construction work, and play with the babies. He does the construction work FOR FUN, it's not even his "real" job. He has more Home Depot gift certificates then he knows what to do with, and his family usually takes care of his new work shirts every year (could we be more lame, right?). I decided to look back at some of the gifts I've gotten him in the past for inspiration, then I remembered the very first Christmas present I gave him. We were in 10th grade, and he still had quite the reputation as the ummm herbal fan (?) and Pink Floyd was making their big comeback in our school, and of course black lights were cool. So I bought him these flourescent black light drip candles for his room. Ha it seems so laughable now, but at the time it was awesome. Or I thought so anyway.

Do you have any funny present stories?

So yeah remember how I was all excited about wearing my "big girl clothes" to work from here on out. Real glad I did that seeing as how Lilli just puked all down the front of my shirt.

Awesome.

Boo

Shit. I have to go back to work tomorrow. Has it really been 6 weeks already? Is my last baby already a month and a half old? How is that possible?

Uggh. I don't know which is worse, her 6 weeks into NOT being a baby any more or having to go back to work.

The nice thing is my work is super casual so I can continue wearing my sweatpants and t-shirts, but I have made the decision to start wearing my "Professional clothes" to work. Why?

Because I'm bored with my sweatpants and t-shirts, and the NoBloShoeMo, has made me revisit all my shoes, and I forgot how amazingly wonderful my shoe collection is. I mean I'm not pulling a Carrie Bradshaw and wearing Minolo's or anything like that, but my shoes are still fun.

Anyway back to work. Of course, I'll be able to bring Lilli with me a few days a week, so I won't be going cold turkey. Plus, all my clients are planning their budgets for 2007, so hopefully I'll be signing clients like crazy.

Have a great Monday and week, and happy Day 5 of NaBloPoMo.

30 days of Shoes!

Sweet Lord have mercy, Chris is a gal after my own heart. Have you fools seen her house? Now the goddess has started a spin-off from fussy’s a post a day for a month, but this is focused on SHOES!

I can’t even come close to adequately expressing my joy. I love to show off my shoes. Unfortunately it’s lost on Adam, at work my boss wears running pants and sweatsuits, even my own sister doesn’t appreciate my lovingly assembled shoe collection.

Now, I have somewhere to show them off.

"Betty Courtney"

I was afraid when I'd posted before about my fued with the stove being over, that I was going to jinx myself but NO! I made another fabulous (if I do say so myself) meal tonight. What a bummer going back to work is going to be, as I'll probably not want to come right home and spend the little bit of free time I have to spend with Conner slaving away in the kitchen. Especially after working with seemingly braindead people all day long. bleah.

Right, so back to the seemingly successful domesticated housewife rouse I have going right now. Made salmon cakes, asparagus with hollandaise (homemade bitches!!!) and pasta. We even had some wine. We're getting so fancy and sophisticated round these here parts. Don't even get me started on our newfound love for sushi!!

Halloween

It's no secret around the Paris house that Halloween and Fall are generally my favorite time of the year. I love decorating, I love the weather, the holidays, the clothes even!

I have finally met my match in my sisters boyfriend Rene'. He loves Halloween just as much if not more then I do. Since they live in an apartment and our house is located downtown and the traffic we get is insane, they came down here and we celebrated together.

Alicia, Adam, Conner, Lilli and I set up camp on the porch handing out candy, and Rene' turned the foyer into a mini hall of terror complete with strobe and black lights, scary costume, blood and scary sounds. I think we got more parents then kids, and we even induced a couple of tears. (Which we did feel bad about. Honest!)

Halloween! 043.jpg
Conner even picked up on scaring the kids, complete with shrieks and his arms in the air. Even though he was definately more cute then scary.

Scary Conner

First one...

So today officially kicks off NaBloPoMo, and I can't get my damn wireless to work with me. I had a fun little post all written out (with pictures) recapping Halloween and I can't get the pictures to work.

arrggghh..

In other news, I have my 2nd clogged duct in a week.

Hooray!

What American accent do you have?
Your Result: The Midland

"You have a Midland accent" is just another way of saying "you don't have an accent." You probably are from the Midland (Pennsylvania, southern Ohio, southern Indiana, southern Illinois, and Missouri) but then for all we know you could be from Florida or Charleston or one of those big southern cities like Atlanta or Dallas. You have a good voice for TV and radio.
