Plastic surgery available on taxpayers' dime

Updated: 10:34 a.m. ET July 22, 2004NEW YORK - The U.S. Army has long lured recruits with the slogan “Be All You Can Be,” but now soldiers and their families can receive plastic surgery, including breast enlargements, on the taxpayers’ dime.

The New Yorker magazine reports in its July 26th edition that members of all four branches of the U.S. military can get face-lifts, breast enlargements, liposuction and nose jobs for free -- something the military says helps surgeons practice their skills.

“Anyone wearing a uniform is eligible,” Dr. Bob Lyons, chief of plastic surgery at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio told the magazine, which said soldiers needed the approval of their commanding officers to get the time off.

Between 2000 and 2003, military doctors performed 496 breast enlargements and 1,361 liposuction surgeries on soldiers and their dependents, the magazine said.

The magazine quoted an Army spokeswoman as saying, “the surgeons have to have someone to practice on

Umm hello, sign me up. I will have the biggest boobs, and the most kick-ass liposuctioned and taught thighs ever! sweet... God Bless the military

37 weeks

Had my 37 week drs appt yesterday, we are now officially at full term. So essentially anytime now and he will probably be wonderful.

she told me I was measuring 38 weeks and not allowed to grow anymore. That must be why he is constantly kicking me in the ribs! the dr also said that depending on how he measures next week, we may do an ultrasound, to be sure he is not like 25 lbs haha.

I think it is because I am so shortwaisted, he doesn't have anywhere else to go but out!

I haven't talked to Adam in almost 2 weeks. well he called me on saturday but thanks to fucking sprint i missed the call completely. He said it would probably be the last chance he got to call in a while since they have officially started the physical part of basic. I miss him soo much. I havent even gotten a letter in a week.

Still no word of address but as soon as I get it I will let you know. shit Ihate crying at work.

anyway, just thought i would give everyone a baby and Adam update. hopefully the next post will be a baby announcement!

Oh no it's like I am just dwarfing poor Adam...

This one's just pretty. Kimberly cropped, zoomed and changed colors for us and we have it framed above the fireplace. It is great.

She's HUGE! (and falling over) that's what I think it looks like anyway...

All By Myseeelllfff, don't wanna be.....

So sad...dropped Adam off yesterday for his basic training in Georgia. He actually flies out today, yesterday he had to hang out in the hotel, we dropped him off at 2 and I talked to him around 9:30 and he told me they didn't have to be there until 8...arrggh. The military is incredibly un-organized.

He had to catch the bus to MEPS at 5:30 this morning bleah. Then they fly out to Fort Benning this afternoon.

Siigghhh. The guy at the armory was pretty cool though, he made sure that I had his number so when Conner arrives he can notify Adam ASAP, rather then going through the Red Cross and not knowing when he will get the message. He also said that if I get him a copy of the birth cert he will make sure he gets to see it, along with his little feet prints. So that makes me feel good ;-)

We don't know his mailing address yet, but as soon as he writes with it, I will put it on here, I know that he will be super excited to get some letters. (well as excited as Adam gets that is). It is important that we only send him letters and pictures, anything else he won't get, they go through stuff beforehand, so don't waste your money or time.

LIke I said before his graduation date is on October 15th. Wow that is the next time I will get to see him, and Conner will be here. That is crazy. We are going to fly down there for his ceremony. I have ordered these awesome little camo onesies that he can wear-just like his DAD! :-)
